"Beauty Secrets" will showcase Bill Volckening's private collection of New York Beauty quilts in the Moreland Auditorium. "Beauty Secrets" will demonstrate the history and artistic evolution of this unique pattern over the past 150 years. Lecture and guided tour will be announced at www.bentoncountymuseum.org.

5. Mystery on the Beach

JanniLou Creations features a double mystery project at their "on the Beach Retreat" each November. Jan and Lou choose a pattern, JLC Staff choose fabrics for kits – and students attending the retreat have no idea what they are making until the weekend is nearly to a close. It's great fun, and as you can see by the results, great quilts "happen at the beach!"

6. Trip to Philomath – A Philomath Bulletin & JLC StarStruck Challenge

In this show, Jan and Lou thought it would be great fun to offer a block of the month project in the Philomath Bulletin, so Lou designed a quilt titled, "A Trip to Philomath". Blocks were named in honor of Philomath, Oregon and the design was a mystery until the assembly instructions were supplied.

22. Duet: Full Circle and Second Time Around

"Full Circle" is a series of quilts inspired by photos. The first quilter received a photo and then made a quilt based on something in the photo, and then took a photo that related to her quilt and sent her photo on to the next quilter who repeated the process. "Second Time Around" quilts were created using recycled materials.

This year's Quilts in the Gardens will have seven different venues, each showcasing quilts with different themes. Each garden is handicapped-accessible. The ideal way to visit each garden/quilt show is to walk, bike, or take the free shuttle that will travel the circuit during the course of the day.
